A woman I met this week said, 'do you ever rest?' and I said 'no.' It seemed like the obvious answer at the time. But then I thought about it, and thought, 'well, hold on.' Everyone does something they enjoy when they're not at work, right? And I LIKE writing and all of the tasks that go with it ... planning and visualizing and imagining. 

In all honesty, I could go the rest of this lifetime without ever again going through the Formatting Hell experience of preparing another manuscript to go online. But that's only one small part of the whole writing task thing and ... it's okay.

But as for the actual writing stuff ... nah. (Or 'nah-yeah-nah,' as people here say. You have to guess the end meaning - positive or negative - based on facial expression, shrugging eloquence, and tonal quality.)

Today, while acting like I cared about what was going on work, I spent quite a lot of time thinking about how zombies and other essentially alien beings are created. I ran into a larval life form on the floor of my little room in Crowded House earlier, and ...  helllooooo. You can't help but notice that grubs, larvae, insects and viruses really don't belong here on Earth with the rest of us. It's just as easy to explain them away with an Alien Colonization Theory. Which way, way works for me.

So does it count as work, or rest, or really, just what my brain does?

Despite today's Alien Colonization drifting, at the moment I'm actually supposed to be doing planned daydreaming. I need to flesh out the outline for the upcoming Vampire Serial. So if I wander around and think about ... what vampires think about ... then, yep, I'm working. I'm also taking care of tab spacing in other people's tables, and vacuuming up larval life forms, and drifting into thought patterns about Alien Colonization. So ... sure. We can call it work. Hard, hard work. Absolutely.
